Our Cottages are all named after trees…
This is because trees are the ultimate of being “Green” – literally, as well as being renewable and helping to sustain our planet. And we hope our name association with trees helps to engender a commitment to sustainability in you. Perhaps enough to move you to consider building one of our environmentally sensitive “Green” Cottages for your next home.

And about the trees…
As we are designers, and everything has to have a reason and a purpose, selecting the tree names for each Cottage was not done randomly. Since we’re committed to designing small, attractive homes, the trees we’ve chosen are mostly smaller, flowering, or ornamental types. And because our Cottages are regionally inspired, a Cottage that was designed in a vernacular appropriate for a more Northern region will be named after a tree that can thrive there. Likewise for more Southern or Mid-Western locations. This way, once the new home has been built, the landscaping can include the namesake tree, to complete the design. As no “Green” Cottage will be fully decked-out without its trees!

On the drawing board
As Designers, we’re never done – there’s always the next great idea that needs to be explored. But we also want to make sure that each design is well-thought-out, and meets all the criteria of our Chesapeake Cottages brand. Consequently, the development of each new “Green” Cottage will take some time.
